America, International Hierarchy and the Middle East
– Biden comes as the head of the USA during one particularly complicated situation in America.
– The Covid-19 pandemic brought forth devastating numbers and results for America.
– Weak perspectives on the American economy. The economic situation in America is very weak, because of Covid and because of the aforementioned reasons.
– Ideologically polarised country (at 150 million voters, 4 millions of difference). The state is ideologically extremely polarised, one can argue that the difference in votes between Trump and Biden is about 4 million on 150 million voters, which is essentially nothing.
– Multilateralism is destroyed in the external politics during Trump’s time utterly
– A new China emerged for America, as a new nightmare. A few days ago, China signed a partnership treaty with Japan and South Korea in an alliance which has 15 countries, and practically covers 2 billion and 300 million citizens.
– There are problems with the EU and NATO which Trump created. However, Biden will not and must not give up, regardless of various promises concerning the change in the American leadership. He cannot give up that which Trump dubbed America First, he will do it in a different fashion, institutionally and within the American system, unlike Trump. However, what is particularly important for them and perhaps is the most important thing, they have to keep up the credibility of the country and the dominance in the world.
– In order to keep that up three terms are required. One is the revival of democratic relations back home, to secure the economic security of America and to define relations with the world in a significantly different way than it was presented by Trump.
