The “Ibn Sina” Institute with great pleasure informs the nation of Bosnia, as well as of the entire Western Balkans, especially those lovers of poetry and of beautiful words, and those interested in gnostic literature, that Attar’s “Ilahinama” has just been published as a luxurious edition, which is translated into Bosnian.
The process of translation of this valuable work began in 2014, with Mubina Moker, PhD, the Head of the Persian Language and Literature Centre at the “Ibn Sina” Institute, in accordance to its original Persian version. The Introduction was written, and the proof-reading completed, by one of the most eminent Iranian professors who attributed a significant amount of his scientific work to sheikh Attar, Mohammad-Reza Shafiei Kadkani, PhD, who like Attar originates from Kadkan.
The translation process lasted for three years, after which the stylistic transcreation was given to Hadžem Hajdarević, an eminent Bosnian writer and the President of the BiH Writers Association. During the process of transcreation, which also lasted for three years, Hadžem Hajdarević was nearly in a daily contact with Moker, PhD, in order to have the authentic meaning of the verse remain intact.
Husein effendi Kavazović, PhD, the Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Taqi Pournamdaryan, PhD, one of the leading and respectable professors of Persian literature in Iran, who was also the professor and mentor of Moker, PhD, during her Doctoral Studies in Iran, gave full support to the translator in the creation of this difficult endeavour. Thr reviews of two esteemed professors, Taqi Pournamdaryana, PhD, from Iran and Rešida Hafizovića, PhD, from BiH, speak volumes of the importance of this work’s publication and on the other hand valorise the scientific contribution of the translation.
The work “Ilahinama” was published under the patronage of the Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein effendi Kavazović, PhD, and in collaboration with the Publishing Centre of the Community El-Kalem. This one of the magnificent, historically-important works which were published by the Science and Research “Ibn Sina” Institute, and we are hopeful that it will draw great attention of intellectuals, writers and the public, in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad.
