The Promotion of the Work “Ilahinama” Was Held in Brčko

On the occasion of commemorating 120 years since the founding of BZK “Preporod”, on Friday, May 5, 2023, in the Dom Islahiyeta in Brčko, in the organisation of the Research Institute “Ibn Sina”, Sarajevo, and BZK “Preporod”, a promotion of the work “Ilahinama” was held.

The first promoter, Prof. Gholamreza Salemyan, PhD, gave a brief summary of Attar’s spiritual journey and spoke about the layered aspects and symbolism of the main story in “Ilahinama”, which is based on a conversation between a father and his six sons.

“What makes a man immortal is the lasting value he leaves behind. Sheikh Attar left “Ilahinama” and we met here in Bosnia and Herzegovina tonight to talk about the poet from Iran who became immortal thanks to his work that was created in the 12th century,” said Salemyan, PhD, at the end of his address.

Then the translator, Mubina Moker, PhD, addressed the audience. She said, among other things, that her biggest challenge was how to convey the poet’s emotion to the readers in the right way. Moker, PhD, also pointed out that all the stories of “Ilahinama” are vital and current even in our time.

The writer Hadžem Hajdarević pointed out that “Ilahinama” is one of the greatest works of world literature and pointed out the importance of translating significant world works into the Bosnian language.

““Ilahinama” is the poet’s effort to convey some general truths about the world and life through the form of verse and story”, pointed out Prof. Hajdarević.

Harun Mujkić embellished the programme with his piano performance of Chopin’s “Waltz in C sharp minor”.
