Abstract

The preserved works of authors and poets of Bosnia and Herzegovina in their mother-tongue, and in Arabic script, adapted to the phonetic system of Bosnian, that is to say arebica, still prevail as the treasury whose contents are not fully explored, and which can enrich us with many pieces of knowledge concerning our past, topics which occupied the minds of educated people within past centuries, traditions which in the past would adorn the Bosniak and the messages which enjoyed the sympathies of the citizens in this beautiful country. Numerous imams and müderris had an important role in promoting literature in the mother-tongue. Through their poetry and religious content, they gave examples to others, how and what is commendable to be found in poetry, whereas poems were used as a means for high-quality fulfilment of personal imam mission.
