The Research Institute “Ibn Sina” – Centre for Balkan Studies organized a panel discussion yesterday in Sarajevo on the occasion of marking 30 years since the reaffirmation of the national name Bosniak.
The participants were prof. dr. Selmo Cikotić, dr. Jasmin Medić, Admir Lisica, MA, and Haris Imamović, while the role of moderator went to Enisa Grabus.
Professor Cikotić spoke about the national pride of Bosniaks, with reference to certain important historical moments in Bosniak history. Medic’s focus during his presentation was on the position of Bosniaks in the smaller BiH entity, with the presentation of statistical data showing that Bosniaks in the RS entity are extremely vulnerable and almost politically marginalized.
Lisica chronologically presented the course of political development of Bosniaks during the twentieth century, with references to the significance of the Bosniak Assembly, which reaffirmed the national name Bosniak.
Imamović gave a broader overview of the (in)action of the international community during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, with references to the activities of individual officials. He also pointed out that the Bosniak Parliament was a great event for Bosniaks, and that it was largely important for the later stopping of aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This panel discussion was attended by about 80 visitors, with a significant number of young people, as well as diplomatic representatives, intellectuals and media representatives.
