On October 16, 2024, at the Main Office of the Bosniak National Council in Novi Pazar, the book „Ulema Sandžaka: From the Berlin Congress to the Disintegration of SFR Yugoslavia (1878-1990)“, by Dr. Nadir Dacić, was promoted. The promoters of the book were: Faruk Dizdarević, the book’s reviewer, Prof. Dr. Sait Kačapor, Kasim-ef. Dizdarević, and the author of the book, Dr. Nadir Dacić.
At the very beginning of the program, the director of the „Ibn Sina“ Scientific Research Institute, Mohammad Hossein Abbasi, spoke as the publisher of the book, pointing out the importance of this project and thanking the Bosniak National Council as co-publisher of this book for the excellent cooperation.
On behalf of the Bosniak National Council, Dr. Fuad Bačičanin, the president of the Executive Board of the Council, addressed the audience. Prof. Dr. Kačapor praised this project, emphasizing that, in his opinion, it is a valuable encyclopedia that covers imams and workers of the Islamic Community, especially those about whom nothing has ever been published before. He also shared his experiences stemming from his collaboration with former imams of Sandžak.
Faruk Dizdarević emphasized that this book by Dr. Dacić pushes the boundaries of some of our knowledge and leads us to serious reflections on important questions from the history of the Bosniaks of Sandžak. Kasim-ef. Dervišević, in a very emotional manner, as someone from a scholarly family, shared various experiences and challenges faced by the old imams of Sandžak.
The last of the promoters to speak was the author of the book, Dr. Nadir Dacić. Dr. Dacić briefly presented his experience gained while working on this book. „The book presents the data I gathered mostly through their service records, which have been preserved and are found in various archives, as well as from the descendants of certain imams. Some of them have had biographies published, most often as obituaries upon their death, in publications such as Glasnik, Preporod, and others.“
The promotion of the book „Ulema Sandžaka“ opened the event „Days of Self-Determination“ in Sandžak.
