On Sunday, October 20, 2024, in the Borislav Pekić hall at the Belgrade Book Fair, a promotion of the book „Ulema Sandžaka – from the Berlin Congress to the dissolution of SFR Yugoslavia“, by Dr. Nadir Dacić, was held.
The promotion of this historically valuable work was opened by the director of the „Ibn Sina“ Scientific Research Institute in Sarajevo, Mr. Mohammad Hossein Abbasi, who, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the author of the book as well as to the Bosniak National Council in the Republic of Serbia for the opportunity and trust in collaborating on the publication of this book.
The „Ibn Sina“ Institute has been successfully carrying out cultural and scientific projects for 28 years, and the book „Ulema Sandžaka“ is certainly one of the projects that this institute can be especially proud of.
After Mr. Abbasi’s address, the Deputy Reis-ul-Ulama of the Islamic Community of Serbia, Eldin Ašćerić, spoke to the audience. He thanked everyone who participated in this project, especially Dr. Dacić for his four years of research to bring this book to light.
After the address by the Deputy Reis-ul-Ulama, the floor was given to Dr. Mensur Zukorlić.
Highlighting how this book is a window into times gone by, which today’s generations do not know, he took the opportunity to thank the author for his invaluable effort and dedication in saving the once prominent ulema, who were the backbone of the intellectual and spiritual development of the Muslim population, from oblivion.
At the end of the promotion, with gratitude to the Almighty God, and then to the „Ibn Sina“ Scientific Research Institute and the Bosniak National Council in the Republic of Serbia for their help and cooperation, the author himself, Dr. Dacić, addressed the audience.
According to him, this book was created out of a desire to learn more about the once prominent ulama and thus pave the way for new generations who, inspired by the efforts and sacrifices of the old scholars, would continue to work on strengthening the spiritual, moral, and intellectual awareness of the people.
