On Wednesday, 27/01/2016.in “Ibn Sina Institute” was held promotion of the book “Some of my memories” of the proffesor Dr. Suleiman Čamdžić (1926-2015). The book was presented by Emeritus Professor Omer Nakičević, Ph.D. Adnan Jahic and graduate. ing. Dzevad Jogunčić, where they revealed more details from author’s biography.
At the beginning of the promotion, moderator Nermin Hodzic said some important determinants from the author’s biography, recalling that he unfortunately he passed away before his manuscript saw the light of day in the form of a book which was published last year by the Bosniac National Community in Croatia and Research Institute “Ibn Sina”.
Mr. Dzevad Jogunčić, president of the Bosniak national community for the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County, spoke about how this book was created as well as the experience of communication with the author.
Ph.D. Adnan Jahic, proffesor history at the University of Tuzla and one of the reviewers, spoke about the importance of this memorial work, emphasizing his association with the organization Young Muslims: The author speaks about the turbulent and difficult times for Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially for Bosniaks.
He alsko speaks about people who have gone through the Golgotha of their time, because of their beliefs, society and the perspective of the nation to which they belong. The book will be useful to researchers, those who want to further examine the history and valid is the basis for the phenomenon of Young Muslims.
Ph.D. Omer Nakičević, Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Sarajevo, as one of the members of the Young Muslims and comrade of the late Suleiman Čamdžić, recalled the beginnings of their acquaintances, trial and implementation in a prison cell, while they were chained. Nakičević stressed the importance of the book “Some of my memories”, which in addition to the author’s memories of the different stages of his life, his thoughts on young Muslims, also contains several documents, including the text of the indictment on the basis of which they were sentenced to twenty years in prison.
This book will be of importance for the study the Bosniak people, because, as promoters pointed out,through the fate of one man, an excellent intellectual, purpose of life can be seen as well as what people have experienced because of their beliefs,ideas …
The book is significant, as mentioned, because a man who dedicated his life in the idea of faith spent many years in prison during single-minded communist system but remained stable in his idea.
