On April 13, 2023, two promotions were held at the Book Fair in Sarajevo (Skenderija). First, the new electronic book Mladi u magli (Research dealing with the position of young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina) published by the “Ibn Sina” Institute, whose authorship is signed by: Assistant Prof. Dr. Amer Osmić, Damir Kahrić, MA, Aleksandra Kureš, Davor Radić and Zerina Maksumić. Those that participated in the promotion of the book are Dr. Amer Osmić, Aleksandra Kureš, Davor Radić and Zerina Maksumić.
Dr. Amer Osmić spoke about how this book presents contemporary and fresh data that show how young people in BiH live and understand their role in society, and stated that an increasing number of young people are emigrating from BiH to other countries, in search of a better life, and he also stated that young people are the present, not the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Zerina Maksumić spoke about how young people live a hedonistic life and how they do not deal with issues of global importance, but rather focus or worry about elements such as unemployment, the amount of monthly income, the completion of studies.
Davor Radić spoke about the attitude of young people towards family and friends, and especially how young people do not have too much trust in religious and state institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, while they mostly trust their neighbours.
Aleksandra Kureš spoke about the general lack of interest in political and media literacy, and how many young people simply do not want to be part of the voting body, and that they have little understanding of democratic and similar values when it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the second part of the promotion, the editors of the bilingual journal Studentska vremena/Students’ Times participated. The attendees were first addressed by Damir Kahrić, who spoke about the basic characteristics (thematic and formal) when it comes to the journal, and about its development, and also invited all those interested in academic writing to join the Club and send their author’s texts. Then the audience was addressed by Prof. Dr. Shahab Yar Khan, who spoke about the lack of philosophical thought within the modern writing process, at least when it comes to the youth of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and spoke about the quality and possibilities of the works published so far in the journal and those works that would give young people a platform so that they could philosophically discuss and express their views on today’s burning issues.
