Summary

Haji Bayram Wali, a sheikh from the 15th century, who was born and died in Ankara, was known during his lifetime as a great sheikh and spiritualist. He was also the teacher of the teacher of Sultan Mehmed Fatih, the conqueror of Constantinople and Bosnia, the famous Akshemsuddin. Haji Bayram Wali’s teacher, Somuncu-baba, was also a famous pious man and sheikh. The spiritual genealogy of Sheikh Akshemsuddin originates from his teacher and murshid Sheikh Haji Bayram Wali. The above information is certainly of importance for our homeland and the study of the Islamic, especially Sufi, tradition of this region. The paper, relying on relevant literature, offers basic biographical information about the aforementioned sheikh and briefly presents the emergence of the Bayramism, whose eponym is Sheikh Hajji Bajram Veli. It also presents a sketch on the basis of which a biography of Sheikh Haji Bayram Wali could be written.
