Summary

Palestine covers the area between the Mediterranean Sea, River Jordan and Dead Sea, with 27.090 km2. In the period of 1920-1946 it was occupied by Great Britain. The resolution of the General Assembly of the UN from 1947 ended the imposed British mandate in Palestine and prescribed a plan on its division into a Jewish (around 14.000 km2 ) and Arab part (11.000 km2 ). After the withdrawal of Great Britain, and under the auspices of the UN, on May 15, 1948, the state of Israel was founded. That day is considered by the Palestinians as the Day of the Catastrophe – Nakba. It led to the Israel-Palestinian War which lasted from 1948 until 1949, in which Israel occupied around 6.700 km2of the Arab part of Palestine, which was sanctioned in the treaty between Egypt, Jordan and Israel in 1949. That is how the largest part of Palestine (20.700 km2) ended up in Israel. Gaza and surrounding area ended up as a part of Egypt and Jordan kept a part west of River Jordan. The old part of Jerusalem was given to Jordan and the new part to Israel. Through such a division one million Palestinians was forced leave their homes and seek refuge in neighboring Arab countries. That created many problems and many decades of instabilities in that part of the world. Such a state of affairs and aggressive politics of Israel towards Arab countries have been a cause of later armed conflicts in the Middle East: the Israel-Anglo-French aggression on Egypt in 1956; the Israel aggression on Egypt, Jordan and Syria in 1967 and the IsraelEgypt-Syria War in 1973.Great Britain, as a colonial power over Palestine offered every type of aid and support to Zionist organizations as well as facilitated the arrival of people for creating the conditions that led to pillaging the state of Palestine and its wealth, as well as eradicating its people through killings, massacres and terror. Israel is a country kept alive through wars fought against its Arab neighbors. The doctrine of Israel has always been the same, and that means never to show any weakness to it, always use any opportunity to confirm its power and might, update the most advanced and lethal weapon technologies and always, with such weapons and such a system, keep advantage over your neighbors.Gaza in Palestine is inhabited by many young people out of who 50.3% are under 14 years of age, 25.7% are in the ages between 15 and 29. Around 13.6% is between 30 and 44, 7.7% is between 45 and 65and 3.9% is older than 64. In Gaza there are universities with a combine number 28.500 students. The mass influx of Palestinian refugees increased the population of Gaza after the Arab-Israeli War of 1948. In 1967 in Gaza there were six times more inhabitants than in 1948. In 1997, 51.8% of Gaza inhabitants were refugees and their descendents. The urban population continued growing up to 406.680 in 2006, so that Gaza became the largest town in Palestine. The birth rate is very high.31International Law and the largest number of international community believes that building Israeli settlements in the West Bank, the territory occupied in the War of 1967 is illegal. Currently, more than 325.000 people live in the West Bank, with 200.000 more in East Jerusalem, the part of the town also occupied by Israel in 1967.
