Faculty of Islamic Studies, MA Defence: The Analyses of Texts Concerning Judaism and Christianity in Signs of the Time

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, Mr Kenan Ćehić defended his MA thesis, at the Faculty of Islamic Studies, entitled: “The Analyses about Texts Concerning Judaism and Christianity in Signs of the Time”, under the mentorship of the Assistant Professor Orhan Jašić, PhD.

The defence was attended by the director of the “Ibn Sina” Institute, accompanied by Mubina Moker, PhD.

The foci of the thesis are the analyses concerning Judaism and Christianity published in the periodical Signs of the Time, published by the “Ibn Sina” Institute.

Mr Ćehić at the very opening of his speech expressed the notion that Signs of the Time is the first publication since 1997 which has been actualising social, religious and political topics in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the same continuity has progressed until this very day. In his words, the title of the periodical has foreshadowed that it would tackle the topics appropriate for the respective time and place. The matrix idea is that all notions should: be considered interculturally, multi-perspectively, stresse the importance of the phenomenon of the interreligious dialogue, with the idea of wanting to get acquainted with different worldviews, and thereby contribute to the development of the dialogue culture in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“One of the traits of the Signs of the Time is that since 1997 it has persevered until this very day”, Mr Ćehić pointed out. In his continuation, he pointed out that this periodical, with its variety and focus within the article topics, can be situated among the most important scientific journals in B&H.

In the end, Mr Ćehić expressed his gratitude to the “Ibn Sina” Institute which gave him the collected editions of the periodical, thereby making his thesis work more manageable.
