Abstract

The entire medieval part of the history of the Roman Catholic Church was accompanied by violence. It was towards those who were a direct threat to the unity of that time, and thus the wealth of the church, as well as towards those who had the courage to question its official doctrine and teachings. Although it tried to curb these threats, the Roman Catholic Church thus made an indirect contribution to the development of science, but also a contribution to the development of reform movements and its emancipation.
