Announcement of the Scientific Conference “Bosnia and Herzegovina in International Relations 1878–2025”

The Ibn Sina Research Institute is organizing the scientific conference “Bosnia and Herzegovina in International Relations 1878–2025,” which will be held on April 24, 2025, starting at 10:00 AM.

In light of the current geopolitical moment, which highlights the need to reflect on historical facts in order to better understand the present, researchers from various fields will contribute their expertise to address some of the following key issues:

What key events shaped Bosnia and Herzegovina’s international position?; What is Bosnia and Herzegovina’s relationship with Western countries, and what is it with those we call Islamic?; How much has Bosnia and Herzegovina’s diplomacy progressed or regressed from the 1990s to the present day?; Which geopolitical entities throughout history have been most interested in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and what is their current role in geopolitical processes?; To what extent have the genocide against Bosniaks and the war against Bosnia and Herzegovina shaped the socio-political paradigm of life?; What are the proposals for a new geopolitical positioning of Bosnia and Herzegovina?; What state-legal concepts were present in the past period, and which ones today in the context of Bosnia and Herzegovina?; and other questions consistent with the thematic framework of the latter Conference.

The conference will be held at the Ibn Sina Research Institute, located at Potok Street 24 (Baščaršija).
